From his instructions on the Five Precepts, to the four Protective Meditations (Recollection of the Buddha, Loving-Kindness, Contemplation of the Unattractive, and Recollection of Death), to the four Boundless Abodes (Loving-Kindness, Compassion, Rejoicing, and Equanimity), the tools provided by the Dhamma serve to keep those who practice them secure from internal and external peril.
