Āsāḷha Pūja

Celebrating the beginning of Vassa, and commemorating the Buddha’s first teaching – the Dhammacakkappavattana Sutta.
Every year, the monastic community follows the observance of Vassa – staying in one place for a period of three months, beginning with the full moon of July. During these three months, they commit to intensifying their practices of study and meditation.
Āsāḷha Pūja (also called Vas-Aradhana) is the traditional Buddhist holiday celebrating the beginning of Vassa, and commemorating the Buddha’s first teaching – the Dhammacakkappavattana Sutta.
Join us for a day of traditional activities:
10am – Arrive, set-up food offerings
11am – Meal Offering
1pm – Invitation to Vassa
1:30pm – Dhamma Talk
2:30pm – Chanting the Dhammacakkappavattana Sutta
3:00pm – Q&A
